Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Align mobile application ("App", "Service", "we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Short version: Align is a personal finance tool. Your data belongs to you. Free plan has entry limits. Pro plan unlocks all features. Subscriptions are billed through Razorpay. You may cancel at any time from the Play Store.

These Terms were last updated on 25 June 2026 and apply to Align Version 2 (App Version 2.0.0+) distributed via the Google Play Store.

1Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, signing in with Google, or otherwise accessing Align, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

If you are using Align on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2Eligibility & Account

2.1 Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old (or the applicable minimum digital age in your jurisdiction) to use Align. By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement.

2.2 Google Sign-In

Align uses Google Sign-In as the only authentication method. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorised access to your account.

2.3 One account per user

Each Google account may be associated with one Align account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent free-tier limits is prohibited and may result in suspension of all associated accounts.

2.4 Accurate information

You agree to provide accurate information when prompted (e.g. timezone, currency preference) and to keep this information current.

Align is free to download and includes a Free plan with the following limits:

Free limit note: Archived entries count toward the free-plan limit of 1 Expense Reminder and 1 Income Entry. To create a new entry of that type you must first permanently delete your existing one from the Archive.

5Align Pro — Subscription Plans & Pricing

5.1 Available plans

Align Pro is available in two subscription tiers:

There is no free trial period in V2. A free trial may be introduced in a future version of the app.

5.2 Pricing by currency

Prices are fixed per currency and are not calculated using live exchange rates. The following prices are correct at the time of publishing:

Prices are subject to change. Any pricing change will be communicated in-app before it takes effect and will not affect your current billing period.

5.3 Currency selection

You select your payment currency during onboarding or later in Settings → Currency. Once a payment is initiated, the currency used for that transaction is fixed. Future renewals use the currency stored in your profile at the time of renewal.

Align supports the following payment currencies: INR, USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD. Currency display in the app (for your financial entries) is separate from your payment currency and can be set independently.

6Payment, Billing & Currency

6.1 Payment processor

All payments are processed by Razorpay, our payment partner. By completing a purchase you agree to Razorpay's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

6.2 What we store

We store only non-sensitive payment metadata: Razorpay order ID, payment ID, plan type, amount, and currency. We never store card numbers, CVV, UPI PINs, or bank credentials.

6.3 Billing cycle

Your Pro subscription remains active until the end of your paid billing period, even if you cancel renewal (see §7).

6.4 Failed payments

If a payment fails, Align displays a payment-failed screen with the option to retry. Your Pro features remain active until expiry. We do not automatically retry failed payments.

6.5 Taxes

Prices displayed in the app may or may not include applicable taxes (GST, VAT, sales tax) depending on your region. Any applicable taxes are determined and collected by Razorpay in accordance with local laws.

7Cancellation & Refunds

7.1 How to cancel

Align Pro subscriptions are managed through the Google Play Store. To cancel, go to Google Play → Subscriptions → Align → Cancel. You can also cancel from within the app at Settings → Plan Details.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You continue to have access to Pro features until then.

7.2 Refund policy

We do not offer refunds for subscription payments unless required by applicable law. If you believe you are entitled to a refund under applicable consumer protection law, please contact us at alignapps4@gmail.com within 7 days of the charge.

Refund requests for charges processed through Google Play may be submitted directly to Google Play at support.google.com.

7.3 No partial refunds

We do not provide prorated or partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period when you cancel mid-term.

8Pro Plan Expiry & Grace Period

8.1 Downgrade on expiry

When your Pro subscription expires or is cancelled, your account reverts to the Free plan immediately. Pro features (analytics, Gmail Import, CSV export, archive actions) are hidden at once.

8.2 Seven-day grace period for reminders

Your active Expense Reminders remain active for 7 days after expiry. After this grace period, a nightly automated process archives all reminders except the one created first, reducing your account to the Free-plan limit of 1 active reminder.

8.3 Data visibility after expiry

8.4 Reactivation

You may re-subscribe at any time. If you resubscribe within 365 days of expiry, your historical data will be restored. After 365 days, data cannot be recovered.

9Account Deactivation & Deletion

9.1 Self-deactivation

You can deactivate your account at any time from Settings → Data & Privacy → Deactivate Account. Upon deactivation:

You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data from:

Upon receiving a deletion request we will permanently erase all personal data within 30 days. Payment transaction metadata may be retained for up to 7 years as required by financial recordkeeping laws.

9.3 Soft-deleted entries

When you permanently delete an individual reminder or income entry from the Archive, the record is soft-deleted and hidden from the app immediately. The underlying data is retained for 30 days for internal recovery, then purged.

9.4 Termination by Align

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without notice if we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or abused the Service.

10Data Ownership & Privacy

10.1 Your data is yours

All financial data you enter into Align — expense reminders, income entries, payment history, notes — belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of your data.

10.2 How we use your data

We use your data solely to provide and improve the Service. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal financial data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

10.3 Data portability

Pro subscribers can export their financial data at any time as a CSV file covering up to 12 months via Settings → Export Report.

10.4 Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest, Row-Level Security (RLS) in our database, and HMAC-SHA256 webhook signature verification. See our Privacy Policy §10 for the full security summary.

10.5 Offline operation

Align caches your data locally using MMKV encrypted storage so you can view and interact with your data when offline. Changes made offline are queued and synced when connectivity is restored.

11Gmail Smart Import (Optional, Pro Only)

Gmail Smart Import is an optional Pro feature. It is never activated without your explicit in-app consent.

11.1 What it does

Gmail Smart Import scans your Gmail inbox for billing confirmation emails and payment receipts to suggest expense reminders, income entries, or manual expenses for one-tap import.

11.2 Scope of access

We request read-only Gmail access (gmail.readonly scope) only. We cannot send, delete, modify, or forward any emails. Raw email content is processed in memory and is never stored on our servers.

11.4 Google API compliance

Align's use of Gmail data complies with Google's API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Gmail data is used only to provide the import feature and is not used for advertising or shared with third parties.

12Push Notifications

Align delivers bill reminders and income alerts as push notifications. You grant notification permission during onboarding. You may disable notifications at any time in Settings → Notifications or in your device's system settings.

Notifications are scheduled based on your configured reminder-before preferences, reminder time, and account timezone. Changing your timezone in settings updates all future notification schedules.

If push notification permission is denied, reminders are delivered only to the in-app Notification Inbox.

Align does not use push notifications for marketing or promotional messages. All notifications relate exclusively to financial entries and reminders you have created.

13Intellectual Property

13.1 Our property

The Align application, its design, source code, trademarks, logos, and all content provided by us (excluding your personal data) are the intellectual property of Align and its developers. All rights are reserved.

13.2 Licence to use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on your personal Android device strictly in accordance with these Terms and for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Align uses open-source libraries (including Expo, React Native, Zustand, Supabase client, and others). Each library is subject to its own licence terms.

15Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

15.1 No financial advice

Align is a personal productivity tool. Nothing in the App constitutes financial advice, investment guidance, tax advice, or legal advice. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions.

15.2 Service availability

We strive to keep Align available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or terminate the Service for maintenance, upgrades, or reasons outside our control. We are not liable for any losses arising from service unavailability.

15.3 Data accuracy

Analytics, reports, and calculations in Align are based on the data you enter. We are not responsible for errors in your financial records resulting from incorrect data entry, synchronisation failures caused by device or network issues, or third-party service outages (Supabase, Razorpay, Google).

15.4 Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

15.5 Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ALIGN, ITS DEVELOPERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

16Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Align and its developers, officers, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of the App; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) any data you enter into the App.

17Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or your use of Align shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Gujarat, India.

If you are accessing Align from outside India, you are responsible for compliance with local laws to the extent they are applicable.

18Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will:

If you continue to use Align after updated Terms are posted, you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App and may request account deletion as described in §9.
